To help identify areas of the nation with high concentrations of M&S development, the National Training and Simulation Association (NTSA) has begun the "NTSA Mapping Initiative." Nearly 1400 organizations across all 50 states have been plotted on a national map to visualize M&S development and help organizations identify potential collaborators. The North American Industry Classification System (“NAICS”) is the standard used by Federal statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy. It provides specific codes associated with industry activity. NM&SC has undertaken a project to submit recommendations for representing M&S within two specific industry codes, Manufacturing (Products), and the Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services. The expected submission date is Fall, 2019.
